Herefordshire Hydro

This message has been received from a website viewer, the subject has been passed to the Group secretary, and to the British Hydropower Association, but anyone who has useful information on the subjects listed, would they please get in touch via a contact form. Webmaster
Comments: Lots of interesting information, but as funding can be a problem, how about a section on finance- i suggest links for investors to those seeking funds (such as settle hydro), those who might provide funds (such as Triodos Bank) and perhaps links to electricity companies who will pay for the output & ROCs etc

Webmasters Note. A Grants & Finance page has now been added, contributions to this gratefully recieived

Today's BBC Radio 4 Food programme says that we should eat more fish.  Here is an opportunity for all microhydro sites with a holding pond. raise fish in it, and possible make more income than from the hydropower ?? One can raise twice the amount of food from an acre of water than one can from an acre of land.
This is an old technique, in 1066 Harold King of England had an eel fishery at his water mill at Murch Marcle in Herefordshire.  Monasteries all had fish ponds, often just outside the kitchen, full of pike. Kitchen scraps were thrown to the pike, which were then caught and eaten on Fridays. A good recyling system !!
